Reference photos used for this watercolor were taken in the Yunnan Province of China. This scene took place in a village across a large lake from Old Dali on market day. The headdress worn by these village people is of white cotton that is stitched in patterns, then dyed blue. After the cotton is dry, the stitching is taken out and a white pattern remains. Bright blue velvet and jade jewelry completes the dress for market day.

Sharon was a member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and a juried member of the Southwest Washington Watercolor Society. Her watercolors have won awards in National and local competitions. Sharon�s paintings hang in public buildings in Washington State as well as hotels in Alaska. An article featuring Sharon�s watercolor techniques was published in the Artists� Magazine, October 2000 issue.
